I think this was our first movie that featured an overtly sadistic antagonist, which is odd because sadism is some scary shit. The scariest people in the real world are sadistic. If someone you know is SUPER into the S of S&M, that's a big red flag. If thanos threatened to snap away half of humans unless I give him a specific group of people to wipe out entirely - I would tell him to snap away every highly sadistic human to save half of humanity.
